In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Venue are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Hornet doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

Both the Venue and the Hornet have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems and rear cross-path warning.

The Venue comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Hornet’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 2 years or 24,000 miles sooner.

Hyundai’s powertrain warranty covers the Venue 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Dodge covers the Hornet. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Hornet ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The Venue’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the Hornet’s (7 vs. 5 years).

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Venue’s reliability 20 points higher than the Hornet.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Hyundai vehicles are better in initial quality than Dodge vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Hyundai third in initial quality, above the industry average. With 7 more problems per 100 vehicles, Dodge is ranked 7th.

On the EPA test cycle the Venue gets better mileage than the Hornet running its gasoline engine:

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Hyundai Venue uses regular unleaded gasoline. The Hornet requires premium for maximum efficiency, which can cost on average about 84.9 cents more per gallon.

The Venue has a standard continuously variable transmission (CVT). With no “steps” between gears, it can keep the engine at the most efficient speed for fuel economy, or keep it at its peak horsepower indefinitely for maximum acceleration. The Hornet doesn’t offer a CVT.

The Venue stops much shorter than the Hornet:

For better maneuverability, the Venue’s turning circle is 4.7 feet tighter than the Hornet R/T’s (33.2 feet vs. 37.9 feet). The Venue’s turning circle is 4.8 feet tighter than the Hornet GT’s (33.2 feet vs. 38 feet).

The Hyundai Venue may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1100 to 1400 pounds less than the Dodge Hornet.

The Venue is 1 foot, 6.9 inches shorter than the Hornet, making the Venue easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Venue has .6 inches more front headroom and .4 inches more rear headroom than the Hornet.

The front step up height for the Venue is 3.8 inches lower than the Hornet (16” vs. 19.8”). The Venue’s rear step up height is 2.7 inches lower than the Hornet’s (17” vs. 19.7”).

A low lift-over cargo hatch design makes loading and unloading the Venue easier. The Venue’s cargo hatch lift-over height is 30 inches, while the Hornet’s liftover is 31.8 inches.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Venue has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the Hornet only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.
