Safety

The Nexo’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Prologue doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Nexo and the Prologue have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

Warranty

The Nexo comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Prologue’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 2 years or 24,000 miles sooner.

Hyundai’s powertrain warranty covers the Nexo 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Honda covers the Prologue. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Prologue ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The Nexo’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the Prologue’s (7 vs. 5 years).

Reliability

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the Nexo’s turning circle is 2.9 feet tighter than the Prologue’s (36.7 feet vs. 39.6 feet).

Chassis

The Hyundai Nexo may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 950 to 1150 pounds less than the Honda Prologue.

The Nexo is 8.1 inches shorter than the Prologue, making the Nexo easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Nexo is 5.1 inches narrower than the Prologue, making the Nexo easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

Passenger Space

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Nexo’s rear seats recline. The Prologue’s rear seats don’t recline.

Cargo Capacity

The Nexo has a much larger cargo volume than the Prologue with its rear seat up (29.6 vs. 25.2 cubic feet).

Ergonomics

The Nexo Limited’s front and rear power windows all open or close with one touch of the switches. The Prologue’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) conducts detailed tests on headlights for their range both straight ahead and in curves and to be certain they don’t exceed acceptable amounts of glare to oncoming drivers. The Nexo’s headlights were rated “Good” by the IIHS, while the Prologue’s headlights are rated “Acceptable.”

The Hyundai Nexo has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors are only offered on the Prologue Elite.

The Nexo Limited’s Smart Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Prologue doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
